HITC Sport have been looking at some former Rangers players who fans might like to see back, including a Norwich City midfielder.

It’s been a difficult season all round for Rangers supporters this season, with many fans now willing the season to come to an end, so the club can begin somewhat of a rebuilding job in the summer.

After falling well behind rivals Celtic on their return to the Scottish top flight, the Gers faithful have had to put up with a stuttering season of shaky form, and have now seen unpopular manager Mark Warburton part company at Ibrox

Looking to happier times, HITC Sport has put together a list of ex-Rangers players fans might like to see return to Ibrox. But have we missed anyone out? Here’s a look at our top three…

1. Steven Naismith

The former Gers man made 98 appearances for Rangers between 2007-2012, before leaving Ibrox for Everton. Scoring 28 goals for Rangers, Steve Naismith was a popular figure amongst fans and typified the bullish-fighter that Rangers fans like to see on the pitch, battling for the shirt and for the pride of the club. At Everton, Naismith went on to gain plaudits for similar reason, but his time at Norwich City has been mixed. Could Steve Naismith be tempted by a move back North now that his former club are back in the top flight?

2. Steven Davis

The second Steven on this list, Steve Davis spent four years with Rangers between 2008-2012. The gifted technical midfielder is a specialist in set-pieces and long-distance goals, and has done an excellent job during his time at Southampton, who he left Rangers to join in 2012. Making over 150 appearances for the Saints, Steve Davis is now 32-years-old, and with the chances of regular first team football looking harder to come by, could the former Gers man be tempted by a move back to Ibrox?

3. Allan McGregor

The former Rangers goalkeeper has enjoyed a decent career since departing Ibrox in 2012 after more than 11 years with Rangers. Making well over 200 appearances for the Gers, McGregor was an outstanding keeper for Rangers, and has enjoyed a solid spell with Hull City. However, since their return to the Premier League, McGregor has fallen out of favour at the KC Stadium, and is now on loan at Cardiff City. With Wes Foderingham’s form at Ibrox splitting opinion amongst Rangers fans, would they like to see their former keeper return?
