Three players Queens Park Rangers could sign for free to ease defensive crisis

Could any of the following players, including two who had trials at Birmingham City recently, solve Queens Park Rangers’ problem?

Queens Park Rangers are down to the bare bones at the back, with Nedum Onuoha ruled out for at least three months and Grant Hall, Joel Lynch and Steven Caulker also missing.

A proposed move for Clint Hill will not be happening, despite the 38-year-old returning to Loftus Road on trial last week.

But Hill is not the only defender currently without a club – could QPR turn to any of the following players instead?

Sebastien Bassong

The Cameroonian had been training with Birmingham City after his release by Norwich earlier this year, although the sacking of his – and QPR’s – old boss, Harry Redknapp, may have ended any hope of a deal going ahead. A Premier League player as recently as 16 months ago, Bassong’s wage demands could be an issue for the thrifty R’s.

Rolf Feltscher

Another who Redknapp had been taking a look at – at least according to the Sun – the Venezuela international is now said to have returned to his native Switzerland as he awaits other offers following Birmingham’s axe wielding. Feltscher, who was last with Getafe, can play anywhere across the back four.

Kelvin Wilson

Vastly experienced at Championship level, and having tasted Champions League football at Celtic, the 32-year-old could surely do a job for QPR. Wilson spent last season at Rotherham United but only made nine appearances due to injury, and it remains to be seen how fit he actually is.
