According to Sky Sports, Phillip Cocu has agreed to become the new Derby County manager as Frank Lampard looks set to join Chelsea.

Cocu would be a real coup for Derby. It could allow the club to explore the foreign market in terms of recruitment and give them an edge over their Championship rivals.

So, here are three players the former Barcelona midfielder could target at Pride Park.

Ferdi Kadioglu:

Cocu signed Ferdi Kadioglu for Fenerbahce. The 19-year-old is an exciting attacking midfielder, but after Cocu’s sacking at the Turkish club, the youngster found first-team opportunities hard to come by.

Kadioglu remains highly rated back in the Netherlands. He scored six goals in 15 games for the Dutch U19 side and went on to make two appearances for the U21s.

The former NEC man has an abundance of potential. Derby will look to continue their plan of signing young players and developing them, and Kadioglu would tick a lot of boxes.

Sam Lammers:

Sam Lammers came through the PSV youth ranks but struggled to break in to the first-team squad. Last season, he spent the season on loan at Heerenveen, scoring 16 goals in 31 games.

The 22-year-old striker also scored a shed load for the PSV youth team. At 6ft 2inch, he has a similar frame to Luuk de Jong who played a key role in Cocu’s system while in charge of the Eindhoven club.

If Derby are in the market for a striker this summer, he could be a very good option.

Kristoffer Peterson:

Peterson is predominantly a winger, but he is also capable of playing in several attacking roles. At 24 years of age, he is another player with plenty of potential.

After struggling to break through in Liverpool’s youth team, he moved to Holland where in the past three seasons he has netted over 20 goals for Heracles.

A full Sweden international, Peterson has outgrown the Almelo-based club and with just one year remaining on his contract, he could be available for a potential bargain fee.
