Forest are expected to be busy right up until Thursday’s deadline.

Nottingham Forest are expected to be in the thick of January’s transfer deadline day after Martin O’Neill was appointed less than two weeks ago.

O’Neill has brought in powerhouse defender Yohan Benalouane from Leicester City, but Danny Fox has left the City Ground to join Wigan Athletic for a nominal fee – as his contract was expiring in the summer.

Here are three players that could still move to Forest before Thursday’s 11pm deadline:

Pele

Nottingham Post claim are hoping to complete a loan move for AS Monaco midfielder Pele before Thursday’s deadline, in what will surely prove to be somewhat of a coup.

The 27-year-old has played 11 times for Monaco this season, after moving to the Ligue 1 outfit from Portuguese side Rio Ave in the summer for £8.75million. He has struggled in France, though, and a move to Forest is on the cards.

James McClean

The Mirror claim O’Neill could be immediately reunited with winger McClean after working with the ex-West Bromwich Albion star as Republic of Ireland manager. But it may come at a cost.

The report claims Forest are in talks to land 29-year-old McClean, in a deal that would see Ben Osborn move to Stoke City. It remains to be seen if this one will happen.

Tyrone Mings

According to the Sun (30 January, page 50), Aston Villa and West Bromwich Albion have pulled out of a move to sign AFC Bournemouth defender Tyrone Mings – but Forest remain in talks to land the colossal left-back.

It is believed interested parties will have to spend £1million to land the 25-year-old on loan. He cost Bournemouth a whopping £8million (BBC Sport) back in the summer of 2015.
