Could a trio of former colleagues from Watford, Everton and Newcastle United feature in Silva’s sights at West Ham United?

Former Watford manager Marco Silva is being linked with the West Ham United job. According to Marca, the rumoured Everton target is being lined up to succeed David Moyes at the London Stadium.

Etienne Capoue (Watford)

The French midfielder was a rumoured West Ham target earlier this season, and Silva’s potential London Stadium arrival could reignite the Hammers’ interest in his old player. Capoue’s recently signed Watford contract could make things difficult, however – albeit not impossible. If all else fails, the Portuguese also managed William Carvalho at Sporting CP.

Oumar Niasse (Everton)

Niasse’s exploits very nearly kept Silva’s Hull in the Premier League, and sparked a revival for the striker at parent club, Everton. That said, the Toffees could still look to strengthen in Niasse’s position this summer, while West Ham have suffered from a lack of firepower – among other things – this season.

Could Silva succeed where Moyes failed? The current West Ham manager revealed last month that he awoke on deadline day expecting Slimani to sign, having agreed a deal with Leicester City. Instead, the Algerian striker – who played under Silva at Sporting – joined Newcastle United on loan.
