Leeds United could have to fend off interest from Southampton for Pontus Jansson this summer.

According to the Daily Star, Leeds United could be set to have to fend off interest in Pontus Jansson this summer.

Jansson is said to be a target for Southampton, who are willing to spend £10 million on the Swede.

Leeds are understandably keen to keep hold of Jansson, but if they do decide to cash in, we take a look at three players who Garry Monk’s side could target with the funds that they would receive from the centre-back’s sale.

Kyle Bartley (Swansea)

For Leeds, losing one of their centre-backs this season would be a frustration. To have to enter next season without them both, would be a serious blow.

Bartley is currently on loan at Leeds from Swansea, and if Jansson did depart, the first thing that Monk’s side should do is to make sure Bartley stays around permanently.

Britt Assombalonga (Nottingham Forest)

With Forest in serious danger of dropping out of the Championship, Assombalonga’s future at the City Ground appears to be in doubt.

Admittedly, injuries have stalled Assombalonga’s development, but he remains a serious threat at Championship level.

The powerful forward has scored 10 goals in the league this season, despite making just 17 starts, and his arrival at Elland Road would serious improve Monk’s forward options.

Max Gradel (Bournemouth)

Gradel has suggested that he wants to leave Bournemouth, and a move back to Leeds would go down with the Yorkshire side’s supporters.

Gradel was a fans’ favourite during his previous spell with the Whites, and would surely be a valuable addition again, if he was snapped up.
