The Champions League returned this week and Leeds United have interestingly had an eye on the competition.
Indeed, an image emerged listing all of the clubs that had scouts at the Benfica vs Barcelona game, and perhaps surprisingly, Leeds United had a scout present to watch the Portuguese outfit dismantle the La Liga giants.
Of course, this information has led to speculation about which players the scout was looking at, and we’re going to give our view on which players may have caught the eye of Leeds United’s scout during his Champions League assignment.
Darwin Nunez

Let’s start with the obvious, shall we?
Darwin Nunez was the star of the show against Barcelona on Wednesday, he scored after just three minutes and added to his tally later on with a penalty.
Nunez also struck the woodwork during the game and got into numerous fantastic attacking positions, getting five shots off.
The attacker was fantastic, and Leeds’ scout is sure to have been wowed by the Uruguayan.
Unfortunately, interest in Nunez is likely to be high after this performance, and while Leeds’ scout is likely to have been blown away by him, it’s hard to see Elland Road being his next destination.
Julian Weigl

Former Borussia Dortmund ace Julian Weigl put in a great shift for Benfica against Barcelona, and it wouldn’t surprise us if Leeds’ scout was taking note of the German’s performance.
It was an energetic and exciting performance from Weigl who contributed at both ends of the pitch.
Three tackles, four interceptions and four fouls show just how tenacious he was off the ball, while an assist and two key passes highlight his creative ability.
Leeds are certainly light in midfield at the moment and Weigl could be a brilliant addition to this squad if the Whites are able to cough up the cash to land him.
Sergi Roberto

Leeds signed one periphery full-back from Barcelona this summer in Junior Firpo, and it’s not ridiculous to suggest that they may have been looking at another one here.
The Yorkshire outfit need cover at right-back. After all, Luke Ayling is their only senior player in that position.
It’s hard to say that Roberto impressed here. Nunez got the better of him on a number of occasions, but there were instances where the Spaniard ran with the ball and looked quite handy, putting four crosses in for his teammates.
Leeds’ scout may not have been blown away by Roberto here, but there were signs to suggest that he could be a decent fit for Bielsa’s Leeds.
