The former Ipswich Town manager leads the West Bromwich Albion betting.

Former Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy is now clear favourite to take charge at West Bromwich Albion, with Sky Bet.
Twice promoted – once with West Brom’s local rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers – and never relegated from England’s second tier, McCarthy could prove a sensible – albeit not universally popular – appointment by the Championship-bound Baggies.
But which players could the Yorkshireman target if he’s appointed at The Hawthorns? HITC has picked out three potential candidates…
Bartosz Bialkowski (Ipswich Town)

Boaz Myhill looks set to leave West Brom at the end of his contract this summer, while Ben Foster has also been linked with a move. And although the latter pledged his future to the Baggies this week, the lure of a return to the Premier League could prove hard to turn down. Bialkowski meanwhile is yet to sign the contract he is said to have agreed months ago, and could be sold by Ipswich – for whom he has been a standout performer in goal – as he enters the final year of his deal.
Tyrone Mings (AFC Bournemouth)

Plucked from non-league Chippenham Town at the start of McCarthy’s Ipswich reign, the £10,000 defender went on to make the Tractor Boys around 800 times that amount when sold to Bournemouth in 2015. Mings has only played 14 times for the Cherries however, owing to multiple injury lay-offs. He recently returned to fitness though, and could be a useful signing for West Brom if Jonny Evans, Craig Dawson and Kieran Gibbs are sold.
Jack Marriott (Peterborough United)

Released by McCarthy after what the 59-year-old described as a ‘disgraceful’ pre-season, Marriott has bounced back to score 32 goals for Peterborough this campaign – and reportedly carries a £5 million price tag. West Brom meanwhile could find themselves short of firepower next term, with Salomon Rondon, Jay Rodriguez and Daniel Sturridge unlikely to stick around. And a Hawthorns reunion with Marriott could appeal to McCarthy, who this week admitted to being ‘delighted’ by the striker’s progress since leaving Ipswich.
