Claudio Ranieri is a shock contender to succeed Garry Monk at Leeds United, according to the Daily Star.

But what could his potential appointment mean in terms of new recruits for Leeds? Here’s three past-and-present Leicester City players the Italian could turn to…

With Kyle Bartley unlikely to return following Monk’s resignation and uncertainty over the future of Pontus Jansson, a new centre-back could be high on Leeds’ next boss’ list of priorities. Wasilewski was by no means a regular under Ranieri, but having won the Championship before – not to mention appearing in the Champions League – the free agent could prove a decent acquisition, even at 36.

Ironically, a player who Monk perhaps would like to have signed, given the pair’s Swansea connection. However, Dyer’s capture is perhaps something Ranieri could pursue, after signing the 29-year-old on loan for Leicester last season. Leeds may need to replace loan trio Modou Barrow, Hadi Sacko and Alfonso Pedraza and Dyer would be ideal, provided his recovery from an Achilles injury goes to plan.

Another potential winger recruit, the young Pole caught the eye at Euro 2016 and quickly earned a £7 million move to Ranieri’s Leicester. So far, Kapustka, who is also comfortable through the middle, has struggled to make an impact at the King Power Stadium and a season’s loan at Leeds could be just what he needs.
