Leeds could do with a new goalkeeper if they are to earn promotion.
The uncertainty over Leeds United’s goalkeeping position persists, with Felix Wiedwald now back in the side after temporarily losing his place to Andy Lonergan.
However, if Leeds are to seriously challenge for promotion and eventually re-establish themselves as a Premier League club it is clear that they require a more consistent performer between the sticks.
Here are three Premier League goalkeepers in the final year of their respective contracts who Leeds should consider signing:
Michel Vorm – Tottenham Hotspur
Getting ahead of Hugo Lloris in the Tottenham Hotspur pecking order was never going to be a realistic objective for Vorm, and the Dutchman has has played just nine times for Mauricio Pochettino’s side in the Premier League since joining in 2014.
Vorm possesses prior Premier League experience from his time at Swansea City and may well relish the opportunity to play regularly at Leeds. Now 34, his chances at becoming first choice for a side as big as Leeds is dwindling every season.
Wayne Hennessey – Crystal Palace
Crystal Palace are bottom of the Premier League and Hennessey has yet to keep a clean sheet in the top flight this season.
Having been left out of the side since returning from injury, Hennessey has now been restored to the starting line-up.
Despite his struggles this campaign, with a more reliable defence in front of him the 30-year-old could thrive.
Boaz Myhill – West Bromwich Albion
Myhill has played just once in the Premier League this season, with Ben Foster clearly ahead of him as West Brom’s first-choice goalkeeper.
The ex-Wales international has previously played in the Championship for Hull City and Birmingham City.
