Clinton Morrison told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport that Tottenham have been dealt a ‘huge blow’ after Heung-Min Son went off injured in the North London derby on Sunday.
The former Crystal Palace striker thinks Son suffered a hamstring injury and will be out of action for ‘three to four weeks’.
This is a very busy period for Tottenham, with Europa League football on top of their crucial Premier League matches.
And Son is a player who plays near-on every minute for Spurs and they will be worried about how long he will be out of action for.
Boyhood Tottenham fan Morrison touched upon how many games Son has played and how costly it has now proved to be.
“He makes the run inside Cedric and his hamstring has gone,” said Morrison. “That can happen. But I think he’s played a lot of football recently.
“He played in midweek and he hasn’t had a rest. And eventually, with the number of games that are happening in the Premier League and the Europa League, it’s going to catch up with you.
“It’s going to be a huge blow for Tottenham, not just for this game but for the next three or four weeks having Son out because he’s a huge part of what they are going forward.”
Luckily for Spurs, they still have Harry Kane leading the line, and whilst Gareth Bale was quiet during their North London derby defeat, he has produced strong performances in recent weeks.
In Europe, Spurs should progress through to the next round given that they have a healthy two-goal cushion over Dinamo Zagreb, but from then on, it’s going to be pretty difficult if Son is absent for the majority.
