Nottingham Forest may be well down the Championship table currently, but they appear to boast plenty of exciting players.

Nottingham Forest are 18th in the Championship currently having failed to win a single game since star man Oliver Burke left for the Bundesliga in August, but Philippe Montanier’s men still boast plenty of talent within their squad.

With that in mind, here is a look at three of the current Forest squad who arguably have the ability or the potential to shine at the highest level in the future, whether that be with their current club or by following in Burke’s footsteps and moving away.

Ben Osborn

With nearly 100 league appearances under his belt already, the 22-year-old stands an excellent chance of developing the maturity needed to thrive in the top flight. While he is not the most prolific goalscorer – he has scored just six times in the Championship – he has frequently contributed assists, including two this term. While the midfielder grew up a Derby County fan, the fact that he has spent the last 13 years with Forest, and famously scored a stunning goal against the Rams in 2015, suggests that of any player on the list, he is perhaps the most likely to remain loyal to the City Ground club in the hope of guiding them towards promotion.

Matty Cash

The 19-year-old only made his first-team league debut for the club at the start of the campaign, but he has arguably been one of Forest’s most impressive performers this season. He is obviously the player on this list that is the furthest away from reaching the top flight, but the early signs suggest that he is certainly one for the future.

Britt Assombalonga

If any team in the top flight is looking to the second tier for a goalscorer, there will arguably be few candidates who stand out more than Britt Assombalonga. His time at the City Ground has been plagued by injury, but the form he has shown this season suggests that his time on the sidelines has done little to hurt his ability to find the back of the net. Three goals in just 123 minutes of action is a brilliant return, and maintaining that form in the coming months will surely put him on the Premier League radar come January.
