Harry Redknapp is back in management at Birmingham City. Should he look to sign players from recently promoted Newcastle United?

Harry Redknapp was this week confirmed as Birmingham City manager for next season on a one year deal.

Redknapp took over as Blues boss for the final three games of the season and helped them avoid relegation.

He is hoping to be given funds to help Birmingham compete in the top half of the table, and one wise move would be to look to recently promoted champions, Newcastle United.

With the Toon set to spend to try and compete in the Premier League, there could be substantial player turnover at St James’ Park.

Here are three players Harry Redknapp should try to bring to St Andrews…

Grant Hanley

Centre-back Grant Hanley was a Championship regular with Blackburn Rovers ever since their relegation from the Premier League and could provide great experience for Birmingham.

He struggled to make an impact at Newcastle and was kept out of the side by Ciaran Clark.

A summer switch looks inevitable and Birmingham could add nous and leadership to their defence with a move for the Scotland international.

Daryl Murphy

Daryl Murphy was a useful squad player for Newcastle last season but his chances are going to be very limited in the Premier League with new strikers likely to be added.

Murphy scored 37 goals across his final two seasons at Ipswich before clinching a move to Newcastle and even at 34, he is a player who Harry Redknapp could trust to lead the line effectively.

Rolando Aarons

England under-21 international Rolando Aarons has seen his promising career hampered by injuries, and barely played last season.

Even if fit he could struggle to get into the Newcastle team next year, and a loan move is vital for his development.

Birmingham would be shrewd to get the winger in and give him a platform to try and fulfil his potential.
