Could the Dutchman bring his tried and tested methods to Goodison Park?
Koeman: Everton’s likely new boss
Ronald Koeman looks set to become the new manager of Everton in the near future, according to reports on Friday.
And it is being speculated that the Dutchman could be handed a possible transfer war-chest of more than £100 million to turn the Toffees into Champions League contenders.
Even with that his Southampton players could be difficult to prise away, leaving Koeman looking elsewhere for talent.
The 53-year-old has often turned to – or used his knowledge of – the Dutch league when seeking out new signings, with the likes of Graziano Pelle, Dusan Tadic and Virgil van Dijk becoming key members of his Saints team.
Could he repeat his trick on Merseyside? Here are three potential targets:
3) Jasper Cillessen
Cillessen was previously linked with Manchester United
Tim Howard’s departure has left a void to fill and Koeman could do far worse than bringing in Holland’s number 1. Cillessen, 27, was linked to the Toffees by the Echo in April, after the club reportedly sent scouts to watch him in action for Ajax against PSV Eindhoven.
2) Riechedly Bazoer
Bazoer has been courted by the Premier League’s elite, reports claim
Though only 19, Bazoer is already a regular in English gossip columns, with Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City frequently linked to his services. The Ajax man is the Dutch league’s Paul Pogba and would fit in nicely beside the equally energetic James McCarthy at Everton.
1) Vincent Janssen
Janssen impressed against England at Wembley
No player scored more goals than Janssen (27) in last season’s Eredivisie – his first ever at that level. Still only 21, the AZ striker’s presence – to which the Toffees’ Phil Jagielka will testify – belies his 5ft 11 frame and would make him the perfect candidate to replace the wantaway Romelu Lukaku.
