With just one day to go before the summer transfer window slams shut, clubs up and down the country will be doing their upmost to bring in the players they believe will strengthen them for the remainder of the season. One of these clubs is Tottenham, we take a look at three players who could be on their way to White Hart Lane before tomorrow’s deadline.
Moussa Dembele was confirmed yesterday, while Joao Moutinho and Loic Remy have been heavily linked today. What about these three?
Hugo Lloris
Tottenham have agreed a fee of £12.3 million with Lyon for French goalkeeper Lloris, paying an initial £8.7 million and then a further £3.6 million in add-ons – this is according to French newspaper, L’Equipe. The 25-year-old however, has said that he would like time to think about his decision to join the Premier League and has also said that he is a little disappointed by the terms offered by Tottenham. Spurs will want to improve these terms as they seek a long-term replacement for veteran ‘keeper Brad Friedel, who at 41 is surely coming towards the end of his Premier League career.
Isco
If reports are to be believed then Rafael van der Vaart is heading out of White Hart Lane and returning to one of his former clubs, Hamburg, where he enjoyed a three-year spell between 2005 and 2008. This would leave Villas-Boas looking for an attacking midfielder to fill the Dutchman’s boots and at 20 years of age, Isco would be the perfect replacement. The young Spaniard, who scored five goals in the La Liga last season, has only been at present club Malaga for a year after signing from Valencia for £4 million but due to the Spanish club’s dire financial situation, they could look to cash in on him – Isco has a £20 million release clause in his contract but this is said to be negotiable.
Yann M’Vila
M’Vila has been on North London rivals Arsenal’s radar for some time but there has not been any concrete interest from the Gunners this summer. Another unnamed Premier League club have also made their interest in the Frenchman known to Rennes whilst the player himslef has rejected moves to Zenit Saint Petersburg and Shakhtar Donetsk. It has been reported that Tottenham have submitted a £12.7 million with add-ons bid for the midfielder but his club want an unconditional £15 million and it remains to be seen if Spurs will improve their offer. M’Vila has 22 caps for France and was included in his country’s squad at Euro 2012 and would be a top signing for AVB and co.
Spurs fans, who do you want to see brought in and what do you make of your team’s chances of finishing in the top four this season?
