Three Liverpool players Leeds United can sign instead of Danny Ings

Leeds United have been recently linked with a move for Liverpool striker Danny Ings.

According to reports from ESPN, Leeds United are considering making a move for Liverpool striker Danny Ings in the January transfer window.

Ings has suffered two serious injuries since his 2015 move to Liverpool, and therefore signing him could represent a huge gamble on Thomas Christiansen’s part.

Instead, Leeds should consider making an attempt to sign either of these three Liverpool players, or all of them, in the January transfer window.

Ben Woodburn (on loan)

The 17-year-old Liverpool forward is an exciting young talent, who has a bright future ahead of him, if he keeps working hard.

Last month, he made his senior debut for Wales, and scored a stunning 25-yard goal after coming on as a sub for Tom Lawrence against Austria.

He is highly rated by the Merseyside club, and Jurgen Klopp will never allow any direct transfer. However, a short loan move won’t be a bad idea.

Lazar Markovic

The Serbian international was supposed to leave the Anfield club this summer, after falling down the pecking order at the club.

However, he stayed on. Markovic made his name while playing for Benfica, and did well during his loan spell at Hull City.

Blessed with pace and technical ability, he would be a good addition to the Leeds squad. At this stage of his career, Markovic needs to play regularly, and he can hope to get sufficient game time at Elland Road.

He is only 23, so he has the age on his side. Instead of playing for the reserves, dropping down the league to get his career back on track won’t be a bad option for the Serbian at the moment.

Jon Flanagan

The local lad made such a strong impact when he burst on to the scene. He performance against Manchester City really caught the attention and big things were expected of him.

However, like Ings he struggled with injuries for nearly two seasons. Last season, he joined Burnley on loan, a move that didn’t come out well for him as he managed only six Premier League appearances.

The 24-year-old could be a good back up option for Leeds. Again, dropping down the league, where the pressure is different to that of playing in the Premier League, could help him regain his confidence.
