West Ham United go into the game this weekend just five points off the top four. David Moyes has done an incredible job as the Irons boss so far, but a lot of the season is still left to be played, and the Hammers will need all the help they can get.
Arthur Masuaku and Aaron Cresswell are excellent options as left-backs for any manager. However, the latter has done extremely well as a left-sided centre-half and it would make no sense to change that, even if Masuaku gets injured.
To avoid that, West Ham are reportedly on the market for a new left-back. Moyes’ side have been linked with a few options ahead of the January transfer window. Here are three of them.
Junior Firpo:
Mundo Deportivo claimed recently that West Ham are interested in signing the Barcelona man on loan in January. Firpo made a fantastic name for himself when he was at Real Betis a couple of years ago.
Barca snapped him up ahead of a number of clubs last year, but he was always going to be their second choice. If Moyes can lure him in, he will push Masuaku to the limits, and that can only be a good thing for the Hammers.

Oleksandr Zinchenko:
90min reported a few days ago that West Ham were battling Wolves to sign the Manchester City left-back. The Ukrainian is behind both Benjamin Mendy and Joao Cancelo in the pecking order and he has played for just 12 minutes in the league this term.
A loan move to West Ham would be brilliant for him. He needs game time to get himself ready to represent his country in this summer’s Euros, and Moyes can offer him just that.
Pep Guardiola is a huge fan of the 24-year-old. The City boss labelled him ‘incredible’ after the 2019 Carabao Cup final (Manchester City’s official website), but sadly, he doesn’t have a regular place for the defender in his squad.

Matthew Sorinola:
This could be West Ham’s best option next month. Sorinola is still only 19 and he is having his breakthrough season with MK Dons. He will not cost a lot of money, and he will provide the necessary cover for Masuaku whenever required.
However, Sorinola is on the radar of a number of English clubs. TEAMtalk revealed earlier this month that Newcastle, West Brom, Burnley, Crystal Palace and a number of Championship clubs were also interested in the teenager. That will make things difficult for West Ham, but it certainly won’t be impossible.
