Leeds United have a number of under-23 players who could benefit from a loan spell in 2018.

Leeds United’s next generation are benefiting from loan moves this season, with Tyler Denton, Lewie Coyle and Mallik Wilks all doing well at their respective temporary homes.

So who could join them when the transfer window reopens in January? Here we take a look at three Leeds youngsters that should head out elsewhere in pursuit of regular first-team football in 2018:

Madger Gomes

Former Liverpool youngster Madger Gomes is an exciting talent who has already shown glimpses of his ability for the Leeds first-team.

After some impressive showings during pre-season, the 20-year-old got a chance off the bench in the first round of the EFL Cup against Port Vale, before featuring for the full 90 minutes against Newport County.

The problem for Gomes is that after watching the third round clash against Burnley from the bench, he is unlikely to get many chances for Leeds in the coming months. As a result, a temporary stint at a League One club could see him return next summer ready to stake a claim at Elland Road.

Eoghan Stokes

With Wilks impressing for Accrington Stanley, his fellow Leeds forward Eoghan Stokes will not want to be left behind.

The 21-year-old continues to turn out for the under-23s but he will be hoping for more at this stage of his career, especially after seeing the highly rated Frank Mulhern shown the door.

As a result, a loan move could be his best bet as he attempts to prove he has a long-term future at Leeds.

Paudie O’Connor

If things had been slightly different, it may be Paudie O’Connor rather than Conor Shaughnessy who was getting first-team chances at Leeds and earning a new long-term contract in the process.

Alas it was not to be, yet, but the former Limerick defender has everything in his locker to make it in Yorkshire.

That said, he is better than under-23 football and a loan spell in the second half of the season may be his best bet.
