Leeds United have made a fair amount of poor appointments in recent years, but are these three the worst since the Millennium?

Since the turn of the Millennium, Leeds United have made their fair share of poor managerial appointments. But which former bosses should have actually been nowhere near the post at Elland Road?
Here are three that were given the job but arguably should not have been…
Dave Hockaday
Dave Hockaday
Dave Hockaday may have picked up more wins than some of the other managers Leeds have had down the years – more on one of those particular bosses soon – but he is still arguably the yardstick that bad appointments have been judged upon. There was a huge amount of surprise when he was made the first appointment of the Massimo Cellino era, but much less surprise when he was dismissed after six games. He disappeared into footballing obscurity almost as quickly as he emerged when he was given the job.
Darko Milanic
Darko Milanic has proved that he is a good manager. He had led Maribor to four league titles before leaving in 2013, but unfortunately for the Slovenian, he managed to wrestle the title off Brian Clough and Jock Stein for the shortest reign in Leeds history, leaving 32 days after his arrival. He won none of his six games in charge, and was not helped by the team enjoying a much brighter spell under caretaker Neil Redfearn before his arrival.
Redfearn was finally given the job permanently after the sacking, while Milanic is now back at Maribor and looks to be well on course to secure another league title.
Uwe Rosler
Uwe Rosler
Uwe Rosler had played an important role in Brentford’s promotion to the Championship and took Wigan to the play-off semi-final after taking over midway through the season. But by the time Leeds approached him, the Latics had been relegated to League One with Rosler sacked months before. With the Whites, he only enjoyed two victories and the style of play received plenty of criticism from Leeds fans.
Considering that he has had bright moments in each of his other jobs in England, it could certainly be argued that he may have turned Leeds around, but his time is, nonetheless, not remembered fondly by fans.
