Three Leeds players that could leave the club and go abroad

The transfer window is still somewhat open for Leeds and foreign clubs.

Marcelo Bielsa has already made his mark on the shape of the Leeds United squad by offloading 13 first-team players this summer, while bringing five new faces to Elland Road.

And those numbers could change, with Football League clubs still able to sign players on loan, while foreign sides are still able to buy players from English sides.

Indeed, Bielsa’s side still have a number of players who could leave the club before the August 31 deadline, and here are three that are most likely to move abroad.

Eunan O’Kane

O’Kane, 28, was not given a shirt number by Bielsa this summer and was linked with a move to Lee Bowyer’s Charlton Athletic on deadline day. Now, the Ireland international may leave England if he receives an offer.

Though it is unlikely that we will see O’Kane taking the leap to a European club, the chance of him moving north of the border or back to his home country on loan is something much more foreseeable.

The former Bournemouth man still has three years on his contract at Elland Road, so the chances are that he will leave on loan. Scottish and Irish clubs could certainly look to tempt O’Kane.

Caleb Ekuban

The 24-year-old managed just two goals for Leeds last season despite playing 24 times in all competitions, and like O’Kane, he was not afforded a shirt number by the Whites’ new manager.

Having played in Italy and Albania, 5ft 10 powerhouse Ekuban is not afraid at leaving to move to another country. It is plain and obvious that he struggles with the pace of English football, and a move abroad could help.

A return to Italy or indeed a completely new European challenge may be on the cards for Ekuban.

Laurens De Bock

January signing De Bock has slightly more chance than the previous two of having an impact at Elland Road, after featuring in some of Leeds’ pre-season fixtures. He retained the number 12 shirt.

But his future remains a doubt – especially after the signing of Barry Douglas. The 25-year-old only managed seven Leeds appearances following his move from Club Brugge.

Still highly regarded back in his home country, a move back to Belgium could become a real possibility before August 31. His experience in the Champions League could also tempt other European sides to chance their arm on the defender.
