Leeds United have a number of younger players, but which ones look set for breakout seasons this year?

With Leeds bolstering their academy over the summer and boasting a number of exciting younger players in their first-team squad, picking out three players who are seemingly set for breakout seasons is difficult.
But HITC Sport have picked out three players who, when the campaign is done, look like their stock may be considerably higher than it was at the start of the season…

Kalvin Phillips
It seems odd to say that Kalvin Phillips is threatening to enjoy a breakout season given that he made his Championship debut in 2014 and has made 50 league appearances for the Whites, but the early signs from this term suggest that it could all be about to click and he will finally be ready to stamp his authority on a place in the team.
The 21-year-old has been extremely impressive this term, scoring twice on the opening day and forming a wonderful partnership with Eunan O’Kane.
Conor Shaughnessy
Conor Shaughnessy may have feared that his days with Leeds were numbered back in May before the Whites took up an option on his contract to extend his deal by a year, as reported by BBC Sport. But, since then, the 21-year-old has gone from strength to strength.
His development appeared to give Leeds faith that they did not need to strengthen their centre-back options further in the latter stages of the summer, with a performance in the goalless draw with Fulham in particular seeing him earn plenty of plaudits.

Pawel Cibicki
The striker position is arguably up for grabs at Elland Road, and Pawel Cibicki may well be the man to seize the opportunity having arrived on deadline day.
The optimism surrounding Cibicki surely stems from the fact that the Daily Mirror reported back in May that the two teams who contested the Europa League final – Manchester United and Ajax – both wanted the 23-year-old. And Leeds fans will be hoping that his form this term justifies those clubs’ previous interest.
