The former Hull City manager is reportedly set to become the new manager of Crystal Palace.

Despite considerably improving Hull City since taking over in January, popular Portuguese manager Marco Silva has resigned from his post after the Tigers were relegated from the Premier League.

Though heavily tipped for relegation at the start of the season, and after a poor start under Mike Phelan, Marco Silva did an excellent job of transforming Hull City’s fortunes. However, with other results going against them, the Tigers have fallen back down the Championship after just one season back in the top flight.

And now Marco Silva is being linked with a move to managerless Crystal Palace, according to a report in the London Evening Standard. With this in mind, HITC Sport has taken a look at three of Silva’s former players at Hull City, who the Portuguese manager could target should he make the move to Selhurst Park.

Harry Maguire

The young English centre-half has been one of the most consistent performers in Silva’s Hull City side this season, and has been touted to remain in the Premier League after a number of good performances. With Mamadou Sahko returning to parent club Liverpool, Crystal Palace are in need of a new centre-half this summer, and Harry Maguire could provide a younger, cheaper alternative.

Sam Clucas

The midfielder has been impressive this season, playing in a multitude of positions and scoring three goals for the Tigers. The 26-year-old has filled in at left-back, left-midfield, centre-midfield and as a No.10 this season, and would offer Crystal Palace reinforcements all over the pitch. After becoming such an important player for Hull City though, the Tigers would likely not let Clucas go without a fight.

Abel Hernandez

The forward has been Hull City’s most reliable goalscorer over the past few seasons, and will likely not be keen to drop back down to the Championship next season. Despite only managing four goals for the Tigers this season, Abel Hernandez is still arguably the Tigers best striker and could offer Crystal Palace a good option off the bench, as a back-up for Christian Benteke. The Uruguayan scored 21 goals for Hull City last season in their push for promotion.
