The former Baggies boss has been linked with a shock return to the Hawthorns.

Former England manager Roy Hodgson is being linked with a shock return to West Bromwich Albion (Mirror), amid reports that Tony Pulis could quit the Black Country club.

Could the following three players, capped during Hodgson’s four-year spell in charge of the Three Lions, follow him to the Hawthorns upon the transfer window’s reopening?

3) Fabian Delph (caps under Hodgson: 9)

A change of club manager has had little impact on the former Aston Villa midfielder’s fortunes, who has tucked a mere 28 minutes of league football under his belt this season. Should Delph continue to stagnate at Manchester City, a January move could be on the cards. If he does become available, the Baggies, who reportedly tried for Ignacio Camacho, William Carvalho and James McCarthy before last week’s deadline, are sure to be keen.

2) Kieran Gibbs (caps under Hodgson: 8)

Pulis may be a hater of full-backs but Hodgson certainly isn’t – he took four of them to this summer’s Euros, although Gibbs was left behind. But with the 26-year-old currently behind Nacho Monreal at Arsenal and his contract expiring in 2018, Hodgson could make a move – given the Baggies’ only recognised left-back is on-loan youngster Brendan Galloway.

1) Danny Ings (caps under Hodgson: 1)

Liverpool's Danny Ings

Liverpool are said to have spurned a number of offers for Ings during the summer window but, as with Delph at City, there may come a time when the 24-year-old – who sat out most of last season injured – needs to be out getting games. Even a short-term move to West Brom, whose striking pool consists of Salomon Rondon and an unhappy Saido Berahino, could benefit all parties.
