According to The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing Bournemouth winger Matt Ritchie, after a promising season for the wide man.
Spurs head into this weekend’s game against Liverpool sitting five points adrift of league leaders Leicester City, and after Harry Kane and Eric Dier’s heroics for England against Germany on Saturday, fans will be hoping for more of the same as they chase the Premier League title.
Whether Spurs win the Premier League crown or not, it’s been a superb season for Mauricio Pochettino’s men, and they will be returning to the Champions League in a huge boost for the club – especially when it comes to attracting possible new signings.
Tottenham fans may be looking for a big-name addition out wide, but The Sun report that Spurs are in fact pursuing Bournemouth winger Matt Ritchie in a surprise move.
Ritchie, 26, has hit three goals and six assists for Bournemouth this season, adjusting well to the Premier League having fired the Cherries to promotion last term.
The Scotland international has earned praise for his ability to cut in from the right hand side and cause problems with his left foot, and it’s suggested that Tottenham will now battle Chelsea and Manchester United for Ritchie’s signature this summer.
The report also claims that manager Eddie Howe wouldn’t stand in Ritchie’s way should Spurs firm up their interest, which they may well do given that neither Nacer Chadli, Erik Lamela or Son Heung-min have managed to really make the right wing spot their own this season.
