Adam Federici’s Nottingham Forest career is under threat after the goalkeeper picked up an injury, according to the Nottingham Post.

The Australian is on loan at the City Ground until January, where he is expected to act as cover for current first choice Jordan Smith.

Should Federici be forced to return to his parent club, Forest are likely to seek reinforcements.

And the following three players could still be signed on free transfers, despite the window closing last month.

Anders Lindegaard

The former Manchester United number 2 was freed by Preston North End earlier this year, having lost his place to Chris Maxwell. A return to Denmark was mooted but never materialised. And the 33-year-old may fancy one last shot at English football. Could Forest take him on?

Ross Turnbull

Ross Turnbull of Leeds United kicks the ball upfield during the pre season friendly match between York City and Leeds United at Bootham Crescent on July 15, 2015 in York, England.

Another with big club experience, having been Petr Cech’s understudy at Chelsea between 2009 and 2013. He spent the ensuing four years in Yorkshire with Doncaster, Barnsley and Leeds, who released him in June. Could he follow old teammate Liam Bridcutt to Forest?

Dimitris Sotiriou

Having spent the past two campaigns as number 1 at Greek Super League side Platanias, the 29-year-old should be known to Forest’s powers-that-be. He previously played for several other clubs in his homeland, which he represented at under-19 level. Could Nottingham be the next port of call in a nomadic career?
