Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has mentioned Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur on Sky Sports News (5:19pm, December 26, 2021) while discussing the Premier League title race.

Guardiola’s Manchester City got the better of Leicester City 6-3 at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League on Boxing Day.

The result means that the defending champions are at the top of the league table with 47 points from 19 matches.

City are six points clear of second-placed Liverpool, who have played 18 games.

While discussing his side’s lead, Guardiola pointed out that Tottenham have three games in hand and so do Manchester United.

Guardiola said on Sky Sports News (5:19pm, December 26, 2021): “We have one more game in our hands. Due to covid, I think Tottenham have three games left than us, United as well.

“So it’s important that we finished the first leg with 47 points a lot, with incredible games away. So we start again against Brentford in three days.”

Is Pep Guardiola worried about Tottenham Hotspur?

Now, we do not think that Tottenham are going to challenge for the Premier League title this season.

Conte’s side, who beat Crystal Palace in the London derby on Boxing Day, are aiming to finish in the top four.

However, Guardiola mentioning Spurs in his post-match comments suggests that he rates the North London club highly.

Conte is a serial winner who won league titles with Chelsea, Inter Milan and Juventus.

If Spurs win their three games in hand, then they will move up to 38 points, still nine points behind City.

That will still not be enough to really put the pressure on City, but it is encouraging to see Guardiola not taking Spurs lightly.
