Former Liverpool quartet are all looking for new clubs.

The transfer window has closed and for players who were unfortunate enough not to land big moves the waiting is not yet done.

There are dozens of free agents hoping to be saved from football’s scrapheap, with some high profile names among them.

Here is a look at four former Liverpool players hoping to earn late deals to continue their careers.

Mark Gonzalez

Simon Davies of Fulham (L) evades Mark Gonzalez of Liverpool during the Barclays Premiership match between Fulham and Liverpool at Craven Cottage on May 5, 2007 in London, England.

Former Chile international Mark Gonzalez signed for Liverpool in 2006 under Rafa Benitez, but never really did enough to convince.

He has gone onto have a successful career, representing his country 56 times, but in recent years it has been tough.

After spells with Real Betis and CSKA Moscow, he most recently played in his homeland for Colo Colo and was released this summer.

AS Chile recently reported he was training with second division side Deportes Santa Cruz.

Jay Spearing

Jay Spearing of Bolton Wanderers gives a thumbs up to the fans after the Sky Bet League One match between Swindon Town and Bolton Wanderers at County Ground on October 8, 2016 in Swindon,...

A trusted midfielder under former boss Kenny Dalglish, Jay Spearing was quickly shown the door by Brendan Rodgers.

The 28-year-old has spent the last five seasons at Bolton Wanderers, with on brief loan spell at Blackburn, but made only 16 appearances in the League One promotion campaign last season.

Talks broke down between Spearing and Bolton over a new contract in June.

The Bolton News reported today that fans are keen to see him re-sign, but player and club are no closer to striking a deal.

Rickie Lambert

BURTON-UPON-TRENT, ENGLAND - October 1: Rickie Lambert of Cardiff City looks on during the Sky Bet Championship match between Burton Albion and Cardiff City at Pirelli Stadium on October...

Three years ago Liverpool signed Rickie Lambert in the first of many raids ahead on Southampton’s talented squad.

Of all the signings, Lambert has been the least successful, lasting just one season at Liverpool.

He is now 35 and without a club after leaving Cardiff City earlier this summer.

It seems remarkable to think that just three years back he was leading the line at international level for England.

Jose Enrique

Liverpool finally managed to get Jose Enrique off their wage bill last summer after an unsuccessful spell at the club.

Former Newcastle United defender Enrique eventually signed for Real Sociedad, where he got back to playing regularly again, making more than 20 league appearances in Spain’s second division.

His contract expired in the summer and once again the 31-year-old is looking for a new club.
