West Ham United should consider moves for the Chelsea and Newcastle United stars this summer.

West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini already had plenty of work to do at the London Stadium before Manuel Lanzini was ruled out for the entirety of next season, but the Chilean’s need for further attacking reinforcements are now even more pressing.

The Hammers are close to securing a deal for Lazio’s Felipe Anderson, according to Sky Sports, but even if they do manage to bring the Brazilian to east London, that might not be enough to cover Lanzini’s absence.

With this in mind, here are three potential attacking midfielders that West Ham could try to sign this summer…

Ross Barkley:

The 24-year-old joined Chelsea from Everton in January of this year, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £15 million, but he has struggled to establish himself at Stamford Bridge.

He still has a lot to offer at the highest level, however, and his creativity and nouse in the final third would surely help West Ham improve upon the potency of their attacking play.

A loan move to east London would be the ideal outcome for all parties involved.

Gelson Martins:

The Portugal international is available on a free transfer, having terminated his contract with Sporting Lisbon, and his electric pace would bring some real excitement to Pellegrini’s setup.

His availability on a free would be incredibly appealing to the Hammers, and his ability to play anywhere along the front-line could prove to be a great asset to West Ham during Lanzini’s absence.

Matt Ritchie:

The Newcastle winger could be available for transfer this summer, according to the Sun, and he would be a useful addition to Pellegrini’s squad.

Ritchie mostly operates in the wide right role, but he can also be deployed in the number 10 position, and he would add some real quality to West Ham’s attacking play what with his potent delivery.
