Everton kick off the Europa League group stage with a match against the Italian side this week.

Everton’s recent Premier League defeat to Tottenham Hotspur highlighted some big problems in Ronald Koeman’s starting XI, with a few of the Dutchman’s selections coming in for criticism.
This week’s Europa League clash against Atalanta allows Everton to make some necessary changes, testing things out before upcoming league games against Manchester United and Bournemouth, and some of Everton’s fringe players have the chance to make their mark and prove they should be starting ahead of their senior (but under-performing) teammates.
Tom Davies
Midfielder Tom Davies came on at half time against Spurs, replacing the lacklustre Davy Klaassen, who was always going to take time to settle in his new surroundings.
In contrast, 19-year-old Davies should be starting week in, week out for Everton and he can prove that with a commanding performance on Thursday.

Ademola Lookman
Inexplicably overlooked in the league despite his blistering pace and creative nous, Ademola Lookman will surely get another chance in Europe, and if he plays to his full potential he could prove to be a fine attacking option.
Everton’s January signing could also get the best out of Sandro Ramirez, so why on earth is he not playing?

Jonjoe Kenny
Cuco Martina is not all that; a fact Everton fans have quickly realised. In place of the 27-year-old, Koeman should opt for Jonjoe Kenny, who deserves far more than the two first-team appearances he has managed to date.
Kenny is a future Goodison Park star and you can rest assured he will be desperate to prove his worth later this week after watching Martina’s horror show on Saturday.
