Sam Allardyce reportedly needs to sell a midfielder at Everton to make room for Steven N’Zonzi in the January transfer window.

Sam Allardyce looks on from the stand during the Premier League match between Everton and West Ham United at Goodison Park on November 29, 2017 in Liverpool, England.

According to the Daily Star, Everton will have to offload a midfielder before bringing in Steven N’Zonzi and in this article we take a look at three players who Sam Allardyce could offload in January.

Morgan Schneiderlin

Morgan Schneiderlin of Everton during the Premier League match between Everton and Burnley at Goodison Park on October 1, 2017 in Liverpool, England.

Schneiderlin has improved since Allardyce took charge, but the Everton midfielder has lost support this season.

The Frenchman’s attitude has come in for question, and his performances during Ronald Koeman’s and David Unsworth’s times at the helm were woeful.

Although Schneiderlin remains a talented player, his failure to show his top form at Everton early on this season could prove costly.

James McCarthy

James McCarthy of Everton is pursued by Francis Coquelin (L) and Mesut Ozil (C) of Arsenal during the Premier League match between Everton and Arsenal at Goodison Park on December 13, 2016...

McCarthy has been out with injury for much of the season so far, but his future at Goodison Park is far from secure.

McCarthy brings energy and dynamism to Everton’s midfielder when he is fit, but Allardyce has other similar players.

The likes of Idrissa Gueye and Tom Davies can offer the same qualities as McCarthy, which means that the Irishman may be deemed expendable.

Muhamed Besic

Muhamed Besic of Everton is put under pressure from Darron Gibson of Sunderland during the Carabao Cup Third Round match between Everton and Sunderland at Goodison Park on September 20,...

Once considered a bright prospect, Besic appears to have slipped down the pecking order at Everton.

A series of injuries has blocked the Bosnian’s progress, and it may be best for everyone that Besic moves on now.
