Leeds United need to strengthen in the upcoming transfer window.
Leeds United fans were desperate for the club to sign a defender in the summer to replace Kyle Bartley.
A true successor for last season’s star loanee has yet to be found, although Conor Shaughnessy’s promotion from the under-23s has come as a nice surprise.
Defence remains a position Leeds need to strengthen, with left-back and centre-back areas of concern.
Here is a look at three potential options for January…
Tobias Figueiredo
Sporting Lisbon defender Tobias Figueiredo is on the club’s radar, according to Portuguese newspaper A Bola.
Figueiredo, 23, came through the club’s academy, and was sent out on loan last season.
He has since worked his way back into the club’s first team, but only just. He has made only four first team appearances this season and Sporting could sell if Leeds put forward a good offer.
Filip Helander
Pontus Jansson’s international pal Filip Helander was linked with a switch to Elland Road back in the summer, and seemed like an ideal solution.
He remains at Bologna – although Tuttomercatoweb this month reported Aston Villa were keen.
This could put Leeds back on alert, and Helander would be a big upgrade on Liam Cooper in central defence.
Joe Bryan
Leeds were keen on a move for Bristol City’s Joe Bryan back in the summer to solve their problem left-back position.
Bryan’s performance this season have reinforced the notion that he could be the best left-back in the Championship, and the Whites should bid big to try and get their man.
Leeds have failed to replace Charlie Taylor, who quit the club in the summer, and signing Bryan would belatedly be an emphatic solution.
