Three cut-price January deals Wolves must attempt, including Fulham’s Ryan Fredericks

Wolves are top of the Championship but are still a few pieces short of a finished jigsaw.

Wolves need a striker and a new right-back. Fortunately, they are not short of cash or pulling power.

Diafra Sakho

Diafra Sakho made his desire to leave West Ham United very clear in August. The striker passed a medical ahead of a move to Rennes, per Sky Sports, only to be denied a move after The Hammers made clear that they had not agreed a fee.

But with Sakho playing a reduced role in the first-team since despite returning to full fitness, it appears inevitable that he’ll leave sooner rather than later. Per The Mail, Cardiff City are interested but their Championship promotion challengers Wolves should be in the mix too.

Wolves need an alternative for lone frontman Leo Bonatini and Sakho, an athletic and clinical striker who had an excellent record at West Ham before the injuries struck, would fit the bill perfectly.

Ryan Fredericks

On his day, Ryan Fredericks is one of the most exciting full-backs in the Championship. The Fulham flyer is a constant menace on the right flank with his rapid pace and direct dribbling causing no end of headaches to opposition defenders.

But with the former Spurs youngster out of contract in the summer, Wolves should at least test the water in the New Year. According to the Express and Star, the right-wing back position is one that Wolves want to strengthen in January.

And Fredericks would be an ideal alternative to the similarly buccaneering Matt Doherty.

Daniel Opare

With the backing of super-agent Jorge Mendes and their wealthy Chinese owners, Wolves have demonstrated that they can compete with the Premier League’s biggest and best when it comes to signing star quality.

According to The Sun, Augsburg’s Ghanaian right-back Daniel Opare is a target for a number of top flight clubs, Everton, West Ham and Swansea among those wanting to sign the £2.5 million-rated ace.

But, like Fredericks, Opare has the speed and attacking intent to be a fine addition to Wolves squad – and he would surely not have to wait long before he could call himself a Premier League player.
