The Liverpool striker continues to be a peripheral figure on Merseyside.
Daniel Sturridge scores for Liverpool
Daniel Sturridge’s future at Anfield continues to be shrouded in uncertainty. Whilst the Liverpool striker continues to nurse an injury, he remains an outsider looking in at Jurgen Klopp’s swashbuckling Reds.
Sturridge has played just 380 minutes of football this campaign and has started on five occasions, as Roberto Firmino has largely led The Reds’ front line.
The injury to Philippe Coutinho has merely served to sum the striker’s recent troubles up, with injury condemning the 27 year-old to yet another watching role as Divock Origi has taken over the mantle with aplomb.

The concern for Daniel Sturridge would be his total game-time last season is just under 500 minutes more than his current tally – scoring eight times.
With no league goal this campaign and with 2017 in sight, Sturridge’s days on Merseyside could be numbered. If the forward should decide to seek pastures new this January, where could the England international turn?
West Ham United
Sturridge has been widely linked with a move to a goal-shy West Ham United, by sources including The Guardian, when the transfer window flings open on January 1.
The Hammers have begun to put a shaky start behind them this term, but nevertheless continue to struggle for goals and a lethal marksman to carry Slaven Bilic’s men forward.
West Ham United’s Simone Zaza looks dejected
The loan move of Simone Zaza has transpired to be nothing short of a disaster – with the Italian failing to score a league goal in eight games – and whilst Andy Carroll’s return has been a welcome one, injury hangs over the former Newcastle man like a sword of damocles.
Whilst it cannot be refuted that a move from Daniel Sturridge would a risky one in light of his own injury problems, the striker would thrive on the service of both Michail Antonio and Dimitri Payet, who himself has been shorn of a target man this term.
Jurgen Klopp has protested that Sturridge remains part of his plans, but a move to London could be a tempting one, who in-spite of his domestic troubles, continues to score at his international home in the north of the capital, at Wembley.
Tottenham Hotspur
Sturridge has in past seasons been linked with a move to White Hart Lane, via The Mirror among others, and with goalscoring being an issue for Spurs at times, a switch to North London remains another possibility.
Tottenham talisman Harry Kane has dipped in and out of the goalscoring trough this term. With Mauricio Pochettino’s men already playing catchup with the top four, a move for the Liverpool man could share the burden of his inconsistent star striker.

With The Lily Whites juggling league and Europa League commitments from February, Sturridge – if nothing else – could fire the North Londoners to the latter stages of Europe’s secondary competition.
Sturridge has already shown his ability to make an impact after a January move, when making the initial switch the Liverpool in January 2013 – scoring 10 goals in half a season. Spurs could expect a similar outcome.
But would Klopp sell to a top four rival?
Southampton
Perhaps toward the lower scale in terms of likely moves, but a switch for Sturridge to St. Marys is not so far-fetched an idea. Would a move south be an appealing one? There are less enticing ones for certain.
Jay Rodriguez showed he is more than capable of deputising for Charlie Austin in the South coast derby against Bournemouth alone, but like with Andy Carroll for The Irons, injury lurks waiting to pounce for The Saints’ front man.
Southampton’s Jay Rodriguez celebrates scoring their second goal
As With Spurs, Claude Puel’s men have lacked a cutting edge at times this term, but in a lone man role, Daniel Sturridge would flourish as the team’s lynchpin.
Much depends on the status of Rodriguez it would seem – with the possibility still of playing Nathan Redmond in that position. Should injury strike either man however, Sturridge could become a viable replacement – if only for a loan spell.
