Which Chelsea stars stood out for the wrong reasons against Crystal Palace?

Chelsea were collectively poor against Crystal Palace in their 1-0 defeat, but as with all shambolic displays – some were worse than others.

Here are three players who were particularly disappointing at Selhurst Park.

Fernando Torres

The Spaniard had six shots on goal, but none hitting the target. This topped his previous worst performance of the season against Aston Villa earlier in the month. The Spaniard has had 11 shots over the two matches, each of them failing to test the goalkeepers. No player in the entire Premier League has had more shots and failed to hit the target than Torres did against Palace, with only Jermain Defoe and Wilfried Bony once each matching his inadequacy with six fruitless attempts.

John Terry

A miserable day for John Terry was not just highlighted by his own goal, but a generally ineffective defensive effort. The former England captain did not win a single tackle all game, and did not make a single interception, picking up a yellow card for his efforts. It was the first match of the season he has failed to win a tackle or interception, and compounded by scoring the matchwinner at the wrong end. Nemanja Matic

Midfield general Nemanja Matic has been superb since arriving at Chelsea, but he did not put in a performance to be proud of against Palace. In failing to control the midfield, the Serbian delivered his lowest pass completion percentage since arriving at the club with just 76 per cent.
