The former Chelsea striker is the new Birmingham City manager.

Birmingham City have appointed Gianfranco Zola as Gary Rowett’s successor, the club has announced this evening.

And according to the Telegraph the Italian’s spell could spark an arrangement with former club Chelsea for the signing of young players on loan.

A helping hand from the current Premier League leaders is certainly not the worst thing – could any of these three starlets be bound for St. Andrew’s?

Ola Aina

Right-back Aina is being tipped for a bright future at Stamford Bridge and his ability to cover left and central defensive positions could come in handy for Birmingham, who are without Rhys Wiggins for the rest of the campaign.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Granted, the England Under-21 midfielder would be an ambitious City target, but his current boss Antonio Conte is already considering loaning him out next month and with no prior experience of senior football, but for three Chelsea outings, the Championship is perhaps not the worst place to start.

Patrick Bamford

Not too long ago, Bamford was one of English football’s most sought-after loan signings but after productive spells at Derby County and Middlesbrough, the striker has failed to kick on at Premier League level. Currently at Burnley but with only 31 minutes to his name this season, another go at the second tier could be exactly what he needs.
