The Championship returns this weekend after the international break.

The most competitive Championship season ever returns this weekend, and some teams are already desperate for a turn of fortunes.

Huddersfield surprisingly lead the pack after five games, closely followed by another surprise package in Fulham, with newly promoted Barnsley in third, but which teams are struggling to get their season going?

Here are three managers who need to find three points this weekend.

Garry Monk

Before the season kicked off, owner Massimo Cellino offered fans a partial refund on their season tickets if they fail to reach the play-offs.

Five games in and Garry Monk’s side sit precariously above the relegation zone, having won just one game. With the Italian owner known to be more than happy to sack a manager, the former Swansea boss will need to get his Leeds side firing soon or face the chop.

They couldn’t ask for a tougher task, hosting league leaders Huddersfield, having picked up just one point from their opening two games at Elland Road.

Owen Coyle

Disastrous is the only word that can be used to describe Blackburn’s season so far.

They have sold their two best centre backs in Shane Duffy and Grant Hanley, seen limited money spent on players and are now bottom of the league with a solitary point.

Owen Coyle’s men head to QPR this weekend, and three points is a must if they are to get the fans back onside and start to climb away from the relegation zone. Otherwise, the poisonous atmosphere around the club will linger and League One could beckon.

Carlos Carvalhal

Having fallen short in the play-off final last season against Hull City, Carlos Carvalhal’s side entered this campaign as one of the favourites to challenge for promotion to the Premier League.

Despite some impressive transfer business, including the signings of Steven Fletcher and Almen Abdi, as well as holding on to star player Fernando Forestieri, Sheffield Wednesday are yet to find form this season.

Their only win came on the opening weekend against promotion rivals Aston Villa, but the Owls have since been unable to pick up three points. It is still early in the season, but Carvalhal can’t afford to lose ground on his competitors, with teams such as Newcastle hitting form early.

The Owls host Wigan Athletic at Hillsborough this weekend, where a win could propel them up the table.
