Alfie Mawson (Barnsley)
Rangers have looked towards adding experience to their backline this summer, but Mawson’s arrival would fit in more with their transfer policy from last season.
Rangers had a good eye for Football League talent last term, and Mawson appears to be one of the best options in that market currently.
The centre-back would not come cheap, but if Rangers were prepared to invest he could make a great addition for the years ahead.
Chris Samba
Best known for his time at Blackburn, Samba has proven that he can be a valuable asset in British football.
A powerful presence, the 32-year-old would add solidity to Rangers’ backline for the season ahead.
Joel Ekstrand
The only concern over Ekstrand is his injury record, but if Rangers could sign him and keep him fit then he would be a great addition.
The Swede is a talented defender, who is also comfortable in possession, and he would fit in well at Warburton’s side.
