Rangers and Celtic both earned victories over the weekend.

Chris Sutton and BT Sport presenter Darrell Currie have named their Scottish Premiership Team of the Week, including three Celtic players and two Rangers stars.

Celtic produced a late win over St. Johnstone at Perth, after James Forrest and Timothy Weah netted in the final 15 minutes of the match to win 2-0 – but they could have easily lost the game with Tommy Wright’s side having chances.

It saw the Hoops stretch their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership to six points, after Rangers has closed the gap on Saturday to just three points with a 4-0 win over rock-bottom St. Mirren at Ibrox.

Sutton and Currie named Celtic’s newest signing Jeremy Toljan in their side despite coming on at half-time. Scott Brown and Weah were also included, as were Rangers players Ryan Kent and Scott Arfield.

Celtic signed Toljan on deadline day on loan from Borussia Dortmund, with a view to buying the young defender in the summer. The Scottish Daily Mail (29 January, page 78) claim Dortmund want £4.5million for him.

Toljan replaced Mikael Lustig at half-time and looked solid on the right side of defence, while Weah managed just 16 minutes – coming on for Odsonne Edouard who last just eight minutes himself. Weah notched his third Celtic goal.

Meanwhile, Kent continued his excellent form with his fifth of the season and second in two games, chipping the St. Mirren goalkeeper after excellent work from Jermain Defoe. Arfield was everywhere and also deserving of a mention.
