Everton have had mixed fortunes on Boxing Day, but have produced a few eyecatching results.

Everton travel to West Bromwich Albion on Boxing Day. Last season the Toffees won 2-0 at Leicester City which set them on a nine match unbeaten run.
Here are three other memorable Boxing Day fixtures for Everton fans to remember:
Everton 5-0 Sunderland – 1999
On the day Bill Kenwright secured his 68%, £20m takeover, Everton’s players took centre stage and delighted the home crowd against a Sunderland side who were third in the table.

The Black Cats were managed by former Everton hero Peter Reid who endured a miserable return to Goodison Park. Everton were 3-0 up at half time thanks to a Don Hutchison brace and a Francis Jeffers strike. Despite a better second half from the away side, Mark Pembridge killed the game on the hour, scoring Everton’s fourth before Kevin Campbell put the cherry on top of the cake.
Newcastle United 0-1 Everton – 2015
There’s nothing better than scoring with the last kick of the game and that’s exactly what Everton did on Boxing Day in 2015.
Newcastle goalkeeper Rob Elliot put in a man of the match display. He denied Romelu Lukaku twice as well as thwarting Aaron Lennon as Everton pushed for the winner. Toffees keeper Tim Howard also had to be alert as he pulled off a smart save from a Giorginio Wijnaldum header to keep the scores level.
Tom Cleverley of Everton celebrates after scoring during the Barclays Premier League match between Newcastle and Everton at St James Park on December 26, 2015 in Newcastle, England.
The game looked to be heading towards a stalemate until the 93rd minute when Elliot punched away a corner and it fell to Tom Cleverley whose looping header flew over everyone in the box and dropped into the net to spark wild scenes of celebrations from the Everton contingent. It was his first goal for the club and the result saw the Toffees end a four match win-less run.
Everton 4-0 Middlesbrough – 1995
Everton suffered back to back defeats before their Boxing Day clash with Middlesbrough in 1995 so fans would have been forgiven for expecting a nervy affair.
Boro had the exciting Juninho in their ranks but he was kept quiet by a fantastic Everton display. Craig Short set the Toffees on their way after 10 minutes before Graham Stuart scored two goals either side of half time. Andrei Kanchelskis rounded off the victory with 20 minutes to go for Joe Royle’s men who went on to lose just one of their next 11 matches and went on to finish sixth in the Premier League, the victory seemed to be a catalyst for an upturn in fortunes.
