Three Blackburn players Tony Mowbray could target if he returns as West Brom boss

The Blackburn Rovers manager is reportedly being considered by old club West Bromwich Albion.

As Blackburn Rovers march on towards the Championship, it would take something special to prise away their manager, Tony Mowbray. And the chance to return to old club West Bromwich Albion could be it.

According to Sunday Mirror (April 15th, page 60), West Brom are considering Mowbray, who led them into the Premier League a decade ago, as a possible successor to Alan Pardew.

But could any of the 54-year-old’s Blackburn stars follow him to The Hawthorns, should he get the job? Here are three he’s likely to target if so…

Darragh Lenihan

West Brom’s relegation may spark bids for centre-backs Jonny Evans, Craig Dawson and Ahmed Hagazi, putting a replacement high on the club’s list of priorities this summer. And Lenihan, who is said to have had interest from Sheffield United and Derby County within the past year, could be ideal. The 24-year-old Dubliner is finding his feet again after a long lay-off, which may spell bad news for Blackburn, with little more than a year left on his contract.

Bradley Dack

Attacking midfield is another area in which Albion could end up short this summer, with James Morrison out of contract and Nacer Chadli likely to leave. And Dack, who has scored or made 24 league goals for Blackburn this season, would be an obvious candidate to fill the void if Mowbray takes over. The 24-year-old may not come cheap, mind.

Adam Armstrong

A player Mowbray has signed for two different clubs – Coventry City and Blackburn – coinciding with the two most productive spells of the Newcastle loanee’s career. Armstrong struck 20 goals in 40 games for Coventry two seasons ago, and has nine in 17 since signing for Blackburn in January. The 21-year-old may find chances limited back at Newcastle however, which bodes well for any potential suitors. With Salomon Rondon, Jay Rodriguez and Daniel Sturridge all likely to depart, there could be space for Armstrong at The Hawthorns.
