Alexis Sanchez, Jack Wilshere and Mesut Ozil are all below average in key areas.

Arsenal have one of the best collections of midfielders in the Premier League but there is evidence that key players are underperforming in key areas for the side this season.

Arsene Wenger has always prided his teams in being extremely versatile across the middle but there are stats which suggest that key players need to step up and improve in certain areas.

Accurate Cross
Alexis Sánchez0.17
Average 0.3
Won Tackle
Jack Wilshere0.67
Average 1.07
Interception Won
Mesut Özil0.67
Average 1.09

Alexis Sanchez is below average in terms of the number of crosses he’s putting into the box.

He has been used in central positions but his core pace suggests that he should be able to get down the touchline and deliver balls into the penalty area on a consistent basis.

One of the most surprising players to be performing below average in a key area is Jack Wilshere, who is down on the number of tackles he’s making in games this season.

Wilshere has always been a very aggressive and snappy player, ideally suited to breaking up the play in the middle of the team and getting forward frequently.

Finally, Mesut Ozil won’t be happy with the number of interceptions he’s making per game on average.

The German doesn’t have much to his game in terms of matching up to players in direct defensive battles, but he is an intelligent player who should be more capable of stepping in to intercept danger before it develops.
