Arsenal star Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain had his best game of the season in certain areas against Bayern Munich last night.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was the stand out performer for Arsenal last night as they drew 1-1 at Bayern Munich but went out of the Champions League over the two legs.

The Ox was one of the only players who grabbed the occasion by the scruff of the neck, playing no fear football as he looked to get the Gunners back into the game throughout his time on the pitch.

His stats in certain key areas last night were impressive and suggest he had one of his best performances for Arsenal this season.

Dribbles Won

The Ox eclipsed the number of contests he won last night, winning ten take ons around the pitch while in possession. That’s a 150% increase on his two previous best performances in the Premier League this season.

Clearances

While his ability to take on players was superb last night, there is also evidence that he put in a good shift defensively producing more successful clearances (two) than he’s managed in any Premier League appearance this season.

Fouls Won

He was fouled five times last night which is more than he’s been fouled in any Premier League game this season. Why is that a measure of success? It helped Arsenal to break up the play, stopping periods of Bayern Munich pressure, allowing Arsenal to have a breather and turn defence into attack.

It’s going to be a major surprise if the Ox isn’t included in Roy Hodgson’s England squad for the World Cup this summer and the wide man still has a big role to play in Arsenal’s quest for a domestic double by the end of May.
