Liverpool have announced that Stefan Bajcetic has earned a first senior contract.
The teenager moved to Kirkby in February of this year, joining Liverpool from Celta Vigo.
And it’s been a solid first 10 months for the lad on Merseyside, evident by this announcement.
The Spain-born midfielder scored a cracker for the Reds’ Under-19 side in a 4-0 win over Porto on Wednesday.
And here’s how some fans of the Anfield club reacted to Bajcetic – a dead ringer for Philippe Coutinho – signing a first proper contract.
Impressive
To be only 17 and making waves in the Under-23 side is very impressive indeed.
He isn’t a regular for that branch of Liverpool’s youth team yet – and with a bit of luck, he never will be.
The teenager, whose father played for Serbia, will want to progress through to Jurgen Klopp’s senior side.
It seems a tall order – and it certainly is.
But remember, Klopp can and does play teenagers when they’re good enough, evident by Harvey Elliott’s emergence this season.
Nobody is saying that Bajcetic can have an Elliott-like impact at Liverpool, but he is a shining example as to what’s possible.
Having said that, the 18-year-old did have a loan spell in the Championship with Blackburn Rovers last season, preparing him this season.
And if Bajcetic is going to progress, he’ll need that year-long loan somewhere, too.
