Clinton Morrison has claimed Aymeric Laporte’s comments about Manchester City being ‘superior’ to Liverpool ‘don’t help’, as he told Sky Sports.
Sky presenter, Jeff Stelling, relayed the comments to the former striker and he thinks Liverpool’s front three would ‘score more goals’ than those from the Etihad.
A big few weeks await, both Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp’s side as they battle it out in the Premier League title race and in the FA Cup.
English football has had many iconic battles in its history, as both Klopp and Guardiola are the standouts from the past ten years.
Nonetheless, following Laporte’s comments about Liverpool, this was the message Morrison sent to the £57 million defender (BBC Sport).
“No, not in every area,” said Morrison. “No chance. Look at Liverpool’s front three. Man City’s front three is good. But Liverpool’s front three will score more goals and be more ruthless than Man City’s.
“I even think in midfield. You could say Man City are strong in midfield, the likes of De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva. But Liverpool are still strong, with the likes of Henderson and Thiago.
“So, those kind of comments don’t help. I don’t understand, you are both going for it. Just don’t talk about it. Play the game and see who comes out on top, then talk like that if you want to at the end of the season once you have won.”

Both Liverpool and Man City will have multiple trophies in their sights, with the Merseyside club already tasting success this term after their League Cup final win over Chelsea.
Some may argue that Man City crave the Champions League and they would more than happily take that, whilst the Reds win a Premier League title in front of their fans.
Whilst Klopp ended 30 years of hurt for the club, given the pandemic, it meant that the final few months were without fans, including the trophy lift.
But either way, these final few months could prove to be legendary for either of these teams because they could seriously elevate their already iconic statuses.
