Aston Villa continued their recent resurgence under Steve Bruce with a 1-0 home win over Bolton Wanderers on Saturday afternoon.
Villa thrashed Burton Albion 4-0 in midweek, and followed that up with a somewhat unconvincing home win over a struggling Bolton side.
After Jonathan Kodjia had squandered a one-on-one, the Ivorian forward turned Mark Beevers inside out to win a penalty, and he converted the spot kick to hand Villa all three points.
Neil Taylor was sent off for Villa, but Bruce’s men held out for the win, and now sit seventh in the Championship table, just a point off the play-off places.
With four wins in a row, Villa are really hitting their stride under Bruce, and the addition of winger Robert Snodgrass appears to have been a major boost.
The Scottish wide man was frozen out at West Ham, but he has reunited with his former Hull boss Bruce at Villa Park, with promising signs in his first few weeks with the club.
After Saturday’s 1-0 win, fans took to Twitter to hail Snodgrass, claiming he was the best player on the pitch and has really bolstered Villa’s options down the right flank.
Others praised his energy and desire, as well as his link-up play with former Hull team-mate Ahmed Elmohamady, as Snodgrass is making more of an impression with Villa than he did with West Ham.
