Rangers are reportedly set to lure striker Jason Cummings to Ibrox.
Former Rangers midfielder Kevin Thomson has claimed on Twitter that the signing of Nottingham Forest frontman Jason Cummings will improve his old side – but Thomson also has advice for the striker.
The Daily Record claim the 22-year-old striker is set to join Graeme Murty’s side on loan until the end of the season, after a difficult start to life in the Championship with just four goals in 17 Forest outings.
Cummings is set to become the Gers third signing of the January transfer window, after Murty brought in Sean Goss and Jamie Murphy, while Andy Halliday and Michael O’Halloran are back in the first team after loan spells.
Replying to a fan on Twitter, Thomson stated that “the boy knows how to score goals” but gave the one-time Scotland international advice, urging him to carry on his hard work as “the hard work never stops”.
Cummings moved to the City Ground when former Gers boss Mark Warburton was still in charge, after scoring 23 goals in Hibernian’s promotion-winning 2016-17 campaign.
He now joins Thomson at Rangers, after the former Middlesbrough midfielder rejoined the Ibrox side to look after the club’s Under-13’s to Under-15’s.
Cummings could make his debut on Sunday if all goes to plan, with the Gers travelling to minnows Fraserburgh in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup.
