Steven Thompson seems to have been impressed with Celtic midfielder Scott Brown.

Former Rangers striker Steven Thompson has suggested in Herald Scotland that Celtic midfielder Scott Brown has been the best player in the Scottish Premiership this season.

Thompson, who was on the books of Celtic’s Old Firm rivals Rangers from 2003 until 2006, wrote in Herald Scotland about Brown: “I am backing the Celtic captain for player of the year, and he has had a great season, but it was easy for him to look good as he was strolling about Hampden with the cigar out.”

Quality footballer

Brown is one of the best midfielders in the Scottish Premiership, and many Celtic fans will agree with Thompson.

The former Scotland international midfielder has been remarkably consistent this season and has turned up for the big matches.

The 32-year-old has made 29 appearances in the Scottish Premiership for Celtic so far this season, providing three assists in the process, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.

One should be surprised if Brown is adjudged as the Player of the Season in the Scottish Premiership this season, and it will be an award well deserved.

Celtic have already won the Scottish League Cup this season and will clinch the Scottish Premiership title if they pick up all three points against Rangers this weekend.
