Liverpool legend Phil Thompson has told Sky Sports that he feels they will need to score two goals a game to secure wins this season.
The Reds were busy in the summer transfer market as Klopp looked to overhaul the squad he inherited from Brendan Rodgers.
Improving the defence was a particular focus given how that area of the team struggled last season, with two new centre-backs, Ragnar Klavan and Joel Matip both arriving at the club.
The beginning of the campaign has seen them fail to impress defensively, though, conceding six goals in their first three games so far.

And Thompson, speaking before the win over Leicester City, says he feels that because of their weakness in the defence, they will have to score at least two goals a game to secure wins.
“We’ve got to be scoring more goals than we are,” he told Sky Sports.
“Defensively we’re probably not as strong as the attacking area, we’re always looking as though we’ll concede a goal. We need to score two goals a game to nail down the points.”

Luckily for Liverpool, they certainly have the quality going forward to score the goals that they will need.
However, that strategy is not a good one to build on as they discovered to their cost under Brendan Rodgers in the past.
His team that run Manchester City close in the title race was one that was weak defensively and relied on their goals to win them games and that ultimately ended up being their downfall.
