Ruben Amorim may have eased some of the pressure heading into the international break with a win, but there are still concerns lingering over his future.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe has publicly backed him, though that support could quickly fade if United slip into the bottom half by the time the next international break rolls around.

There have been plenty of names floated as possible replacements amid this uncertainty, including Oliver Glasner, Xavi and Andoni Iraola.

With no clear frontrunner among supporters to take over, reports suggest United have been tipped off about a ‘top’ manager who might soon become available.

Thomas Tuchel still in the frame for Old Trafford

Thomas Tuchel’s name isn’t exactly a new addition to the list of potential candidates for the Man Utd job.

It’s well known that Ineos held lengthy discussions with him back when they were deciding whether or not to move on from Erik ten Hag after the FA Cup triumph.

That didn’t happen, and Tuchel is now the England manager, but with the World Cup on the horizon next year, anything can happen after that.

Darren Bent told Talksport that Tuchel could re-enter the conversation if Amorim’s situation changes by season’s end.

Ineos vision doesn’t align with Tuchel’s career path

Ineos have been clear about wanting to build something lasting at Manchester United, a vision that hasn’t always matched up with the managerial choices of the past.

Thomas Tuchel has never been one to stick around for the long haul, and that’s exactly why Ruben Amorim was brought in originally.

If Tuchel becomes available straight after the World Cup, it might suggest things haven’t gone well for him.

We’ve seen this play out before with José Mourinho. His time at United didn’t go as planned, and he arrived already on a downward trajectory.

Picking another manager off a disappointing spell isn’t something United should repeat. And if Tuchel does well with England, would he even want to walk away from that?
