Thomas Partey has posted on Instagram ‘north London is red’ after Arsenal secured a comfortable 3-1 win over ten-man Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Saturday.
It wasn’t any of the usual suspects opening the scoring, but Partey curing in a brilliant effort at the first time of asking into the top corner from the edge of the box that set the scene yesterday.
After 20 minutes, the Arsenal faithful were in party mode, but that was then drowned out by Harry Kane scoring from the penalty spot in the north London derby once more.

It was a record-breaking goal from the Tottenham star because that was the 29-year-old’s 100th goal away goal in the Premier League – no other player has reached such a feat.
Nonetheless, those scenes didn’t last long for the away side because Gabriel Jesus pounced on Hugo Lloris’ error at the start of the second half, before Emerson Royal’s sending-off saw Partey’s partner in crime, Granit Xhaka, continue his fine start to the season and add to the scores.
And after the game, Partey was praised in the comments section of his IG post, with teammate Bukayo Saka calling him ‘Baby jet’.
PARTEY ONE OF THE FIRST NAMES ON THE TEAMSHEET
There’s no doubt that Partey is now one of Mikel Arteta’s most important players and perhaps the last person – aside from Gabriel Jesus – he wants to be injured.
Whilst Albert Sambi Lokonga has stepped in previously, as well as Mohamed Elneny, it’s still pretty difficult to fill the 29-year-old’s shoes.
That’s why if he is wrapped up in cotton wool between games, and he remains injury-free, then this could be a dream season for those at the Emirates.
January will be crucial in who Arsenal bring in as cover for the Ghana star because it seems as though some more experienced legs are needed.
